The OPTEX Xwave2 HX 80 RAM Wireless Outdoor PIR is a battery-powered outdoor motion detector designed for narrow, long-range security applications. With detection coverage of up to 24 metres across a 2-metre-wide area, it is particularly suitable for alleyways, pathways, fence lines and approaches alongside buildings.

24 Metre Narrow Detection Coverage

The HX-80RAM provides long-range outdoor detection of up to 24 metres with a narrow 2-metre detection pattern and 20 detection zones. This focused coverage makes it suitable for protecting elongated outdoor areas where a conventional wide-angle detector may not be appropriate.

High-Mount Outdoor Installation

The detector is designed for high-mount installation at approximately 2.5 to 3 metres. This positioning allows the HX 80 RAM to provide effective volumetric detection along outdoor approaches, alleyways and perimeter areas.

Active Infrared Anti-Masking

The HX-80NRAM incorporates active infrared anti-masking technology. If the detector is sprayed, covered or obstructed, the anti-masking system can detect the obstruction and provide an appropriate notification through the connected security system.

Wireless Xwave2 Integration

The Xwave2 version provides wireless integration for compatible security systems. Its battery-powered configuration offers greater installation flexibility in locations where traditional wired detector cabling may be difficult or impractical. IDS lists the Xwave² model as 862-22-HX-80RAM.

Adjustable Detection Range

The HX-80RAM allows the detection area to be adjusted to suit the installation environment. Built-in flaps and plates can be used to mask portions of the detection pattern, helping installers focus coverage on the required area. The mounting bracket can also rotate horizontally through 180° and tilt vertically to accommodate different ground slopes.

Animal Tolerance & Intelligent Detection

The HX series uses an intelligent pyro-element and detection logic designed to distinguish human movement from small to medium-sized animals. Digital analysis and environmental processing help support reliable outdoor detection while reducing the likelihood of unwanted alarms.
